Diamond stitch blanket: crochet tutorial
To start: crochet a chain
Chain a multitude of 2 + 1. In this tutorial I am working with chain of 21.
Round 1
Chain 3 (for 1 DC) and crochet 2 DC's in the 4th chain fom the hook. Skip the next chain and chain 2 DC's in the next chain. Skip another chain and crochet 2 DC's in the next chain. Keep doing this until the end of the round and end with one DC on the last chain.
Round 2
Chain 3 (counts as 1 DC) and crochet one DC in the same place. Crochet 2 DC's between the first and second DC-cluster of the last round. Crochet 2 DC's between the second and thirds group of DC-clusters of the first round. Repeat this till the end of the round. End with 2 DC's on the last single DC of the first round.
Round 3
Chain 3 (counts as a DC), crochet 2 DC's between the first 2 DC-clusters from the last round. Crochet 2 DC's between all the clusters of the last round. Finish the round with 1 DC.
... And continue like this. You see the rythm right? One round you start and end with 1 DC, the next you start and finish with 2 DC's. And so on, and so on. This way the sides of your blanket will keep straight. So if you're not sure with how many DC's you should start your round, just look at the amount of DC's you finished the last round with. If you switch colour, make sure to knot the ends of the two colours tightly together before weaving them in. If you feel like making an edging around your balnket: this edging is really nice for striped blankets.
